Amid the national outrage over rape cases, two more instances of alleged rape involving a minor and a mentally challenged girl were reported in Bangalore.

An eight-year old girl was allegedly raped by an unidentified person, who lured her to a deserted place in D.J. Halli police station limits here early on Tuesday.

The police said that the victim had gone along with her father and her grandmother to the Hussain Masjid in the locality where an event was being organised for the New Year celebrations.

Shortly after midnight, her father returned home which is on Modi Road. The victim’s grandmother too returned soon after thinking that the girl had returned home with her father.

The child which was left alone was lured by the stranger by offering sweets and taken to a deserted field where he allegedly raped her.

The father, who went in search of his daughter, found her near the field. When they returned home, the child’s mother found bruises on its body following which she was taken to a private hospital for medical examination.

Her father filed a police complaint with the D.J. Halli police. In another incident, a 17-year-old mentally challenged girl was allegedly raped by her neighbour at Madanayakanahalli in Nelamangala, near here, on Monday.

The victim, who is also speech and hearing impaired, was left alone at home by her father when he took his wife to hospital for a medical emergency.

Noticing that the victim was alone at home, the accused identified as Prakash, a truck driver, lured her by offering biscuits and then took her on his motorcycle.

Prakash took her to an isolated area and allegedly raped her.

The incident came to light when the victim’s parents returned home around 9 p.m. and found her missing. Neighbours who noticed the victim going with Prakash informed the parents.

The residents launched a manhunt for Prakash and later traced the victim outside the village in the middle of the night.

The victim, upon enquiry, told her parents that Prakash dropped her and went away. Further enquiries revealed that Prakash had allegedly raped her. The victim conveyed to her parents through sign language the misdeed that Prakash had done.
