The Bharatiya Janata Party, which has begun the process of consultations to choose the new State unit president, is likely to be making efforts to finalise the name by Friday.
According to sources in the party, the appointment process is becoming complex due to various reasons other than the pressure tactics being resorted to by the former Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa who has set his eyes on the post. “The party central leaders have already held detailed consultations with the State leaders and if things go well, we may finalise the name of the new president on Friday,” sources said.
Now, the choice is between Dakshina Kannada MP Nalinkumar Kateel and Dharwad MP Pralhad Joshi, sources noted.
Meanwhile, the Yeddyurappa camp held a meeting of its supporters to chalk out their future course of action after realising that their leader is not being considered by the party central leaders for the post of the State unit president.
Even as Mr. Yeddyurappa has admitted himself at a naturopathy hospital in Bangalore, his supporters who met at the residence of Public Works Minister C.M. Udasi, decided to pressure the party central leaders in support of their demand. According to sources, they are getting ready to go to Delhi to convince the central leaders about the need to appoint Mr. Yeddyurappa as party State unit president. A member from this camp maintained that the party should appoint Mr. Yeddyurappa as State unit president if it wants to win the forthcoming Assembly elections.
