BJP leader blames Chidambaram on LoC skirmish

January 20, 2013 02:32 pm | Updated 02:32 pm IST - Bangalore:

Bharatiya Janata Party national treasurer and MP Piyush Goel on Sunday lambasted the United Progressive Alliance-II government at the centre for not protecting the country's borders from the neighbouring countries.

Inaugurating the BJP Commerce and Industry Cell’s state convention here, he blamed the Union Finance Minister P. Chidambaram for the situation on the Indo-Pak Line of Control. Two months ago, Mr. Chidambaram slashed the expenditure on defence and related sectors by a whopping Rs.10,000 crore, when there was great need for enhancing it. In this situation, he said that the country's international borders were not safe in the hands of the Congress-led central government.

Mr. Goel charged the Centre with failure on all fronts, especially on the economic front and gave a call for bringing in a nationalistic government in New Delhi. "BJP-led National Democratic Alliance was the only alternative for achieving this goal", he said.
