A large posse of policemen has been deployed atthe KRS reservoir in Mandya district.

At least 1,500 police personnel will be stationed at all vital installations, including the Krishnaraja Sagar (KRS) reservoir, in Mandya district from Tuesday night as the stage is set to release 10,000 cusecs of water to Tamil Nadu as a goodwill gesture from Wednesday.

The KRS reservoir has turned into a fortress with the Mandya district police deploying a large posse of police personnel there.

The State government has agreed to increase water flow to Tamil Nadu from 7,400 cusecs to 10,000 cusecs from September 12 to September 20.

Speaking to The Hindu here on Tuesday, Mandya Superintendent of Police Koushalendra Kumar said that the district police have taken all precautionary measures.

“Preparations are complete. We will deploy six Karnataka State Reserve Police (KSRP) platoons, 16 District Armed Reserve (DAR) platoons and at least 1,000 civil police personnel in different parts of the district,” Mr. Kumar said.

The Mandya district police have come up with comprehensive planning for bandobast, he added. He and other senior officials have taken the initiative to monitor security.
