Last date for reporting to colleges extended

August 30, 2012 01:47 pm | Updated 01:47 pm IST - BANGALORE

In the wake of reports of professional colleges pressuring students into paying extra fees, the government has extended the last date for students to report to colleges from August 31 to September 3. In a press release, the Karnataka Examinations Authority said the decision was in view of complaints regarding extra fees. With this extension, students will now get extra time to report without paying the additional fee.

“The colleges are pressuring students to report immediately by paying excess fees,” the release stated. This is in violation of the Section 5 of Prohibition of Capitation Fee Act, 1984, and that such institutions are liable to be prosecuted.
