Case relates to illegal construction of an apartment complex
The Lokayukta police on Tuesday submitted a charge sheet in a land scam case before the Special Lokayukta Court in which it indicted senior IAS officers Subir Hari Singh, Bharat Lal Meena, K.S. Rame Gowda and M.V. Veerabhadraiah as well as a host of officials.
The case relates to the illegal construction of an apartment complex on 7 acres and 12 guntas of land that had been denotified by Bangalore Development Authority (BDA) on the condition that the landowners would use it only for the purposes of a horticultural nursery at Arakere village near Bannerghatta.
Collusion alleged
Complainant C. Lakshminarayana filed a private complaint with the Special Lokayukta Court alleging that senior IAS officers as well as several lower level officials had colluded with the landowners and helped them convert the land for residential purposes.
The charge sheet filed by the Lokayukta police follows a court directive to investigate the allegations levelled by Mr. Lakshminarayana. The charge sheet, which runs into 300 pages with 6,000 annexures, has also listed another 12 persons as accused.
Others indicted
The others indicted by the Lokayukta police are J. Bhupesh Reddy and J. Vijay Reddy of SJR Builders, landowners M. Ramesh and his sons Satish and Ravi, Stumpp, Schuele & Somappa Ltd. general manager Shivanna, Dasappa, then Assistant Commissioner Krishnan, tahsildar Narayana, revenue inspector Kodi Gowda, town planning member Tirakana Gowda and superintendent at the Land Acquisition Office Sriramaiah.
Though charges have been proved against the four IAS officers, the proceedings will be initiated against them only after sanction is received from the government.
