Protest held against Dandupalya

June 30, 2012 10:59 am | Updated 11:08 am IST - BANGALORE:

Activists of Ambedkar Kranthi Sena on Friday staged a demonstration in front of Aparna Cinema in Majestic area here to protest against the “glorification of anti-social activities” in the controversial Kannada movie, Dandupalya , which was released across the State on Friday.

The film is based on the real-life story of the notorious Dandupalya gang, which is alleged to have committed over 150 murders, rapes and thefts. The protesters pulled down the film’s banners and posters at Aparna Cinema and urged the authorities to ensure that the film’s title is changed as it brought disrepute to the residents of Dandupalya, a village in Hoskote taluk of Bangalore Rural district.
