Energy Minister Shobha Karandlaje, who is also a close aide of the former Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa, stayed away from the final day's proceedings of the Global Investors Meet on Friday even as the energy sector got the highest chunk of investments.

The Minister's absence on Friday was striking as she was to address a key session on the power sector. In fact, Chief Minister D.V. Sadananda Gowda himself attended the session though he was not an invitee.

The Chief Minister sat among the audience during the session, which saw an overwhelming response from investors who were there in large numbers.

Overcrowded

In fact, the session was so crowded that several people stood for about two hours as all the chairs at the venue were occupied.

Home Minister R. Ashok, who is in charge of Bangalore city, was also one of the major absentees at the GIM.
