Janata Dal (United) chief Sharad Yadav on Thursday said by delivering a fractured verdict in the Assembly elections, Jharkhand continued to stand where it was.
He also said the United Progressive Alliance government had shown “haste” on the Telangana issue and allowed it to go out of hand.
Speaking to journalists, he said nothing seemed to have worked in the Jharkhand elections, “neither the issue of corruption nor price rise or stability,” reducing the JD(U) seats from six in the previous Assembly to two.
“Now only Guruji [Jharkhand Mukti Morcha chief Shibu Soren) can be the kingmaker. Unfortunately, Jharkhand remains where it was earlier. Our dream of establishing a stable government has been shattered, but we will not compromise on what we feel are crucial issues of corruption and unemployment.” Denying that there was any infighting within the Bharatiya Janata Party-JD(U) alliance, he said whether the BJP should have tied-up with Babulal Marandi’s Vikas Morcha (Prajatantrik) was that party’s concern. “Our alliance was with the BJP.”
