The Indian Maritime University (IMU) has plans to open its campuses in Orissa, Gujarat, Karnataka and Goa, Vice Chancellor P. Vijayan said on Saturday.

The campuses are expected to be opened within a year, Mr. Vijayan told reporters here.

“We have approached the Port Trusts of the concerned states and are expecting a favourable response,” he said.

The university’s Chennai headquarters is coming up on 300 acres situated between the East Coast Road and Rajiv Gandhi IT Expressway in Chennai at an estimated budget allocation of Rs 300 crore. The campus is expected to be ready in a year.
