A large number of people paid their homage to ‘Perarasar Perumpidugu’ Mutharaiyar on the occasion of his birth anniversary on Sunday. They garlanded the statue of Mutharaiyar on Bharathidasan Salai.
K.N. Nehru, State Transport Minister and N. Selvaraj, State Forest Minister, offered their tribute on behalf of the State government by garlanding the statue.
District Collector T. Soundiah, Mayor S. Sujatha, Anbil Periyasamy, K.N. Sekaran, M. Rajasekaran, A. Soundarapandian, R. Rani, all MLAs and V. Sankeetha, District Panchayat chairperson were among those who garlanded the statue. A large number of ruling party cadres were present.
Representatives of various political parties too paid their respects. The AIADMK cadres led by A. Venkatachalam, former State Minister, garlanded the statue of Perumpidugu Mutharaiyar. K.P. Krishnan, P. Annavi and K.K. Balasubramanian, former ministers, Manoharan, Tiruchi urban District Secretary of the party, Subramanian, Rural District Secretary, P. Kumar, MP, M. Paranjothi, MLA and others were present on the occasion.
Panrutti Ramachandran, former minister and leader of the Desiya Murpokku Dravidar Kazhagam (DMDK) led the party cadres and garlanded the statue.
The cadres of Congress, BJP, India Jananayaka Katchi, and members of the Tamil Nadu Mutharaiyar Sangam and various other organisations too offered their tributes.
