Four Maoists gunned down in Dantewada, claim police

Nagpur: The Chhattisgarh police on Wednesday claimed to have gunned down at least four Maoists in an encounter in Dantewada district.

The encounter occurred when a joint team of the Special Task Force, District Reserve Guard, and the Central Reserve Police Force, was out for an anti-maoist operation at Pichchikodur under the Barsoor police station limits. Police constable Jhumar Mandavi was injured and airlifted to Raipur for treatment.

Dantewada Superintendent of Police Kamlochan Kashyap said, “We can say that at least four Maoists were killed in today’s encounter as we recovered one 12 bore gun and other maoist material on the spot.” However, the security forces could not recover bodies.
