Eight neonates rescued as ICU catches fire

April 19, 2010 01:46 am | Updated November 28, 2021 08:43 pm IST - KATNI (MADHYA PRADESH):

Eight new-born babies were rescued from the district hospital's children intensive care unit after a fire broke out here following a technical snag in the air-conditioner on Sunday.

The fire broke out after electricity supply resumed following load-shedding around 2.30 p.m., the officials said. Alert doctors and staff quickly evacuated the new-borns. A probe has been ordered into the incident.

The incident comes three days after a three-day-old infant was burnt to death when the incubator the baby was kept in caught fire at a hospital in Andhra Pradesh's Adilabad district.
