Citizens have urged the government to take steps for the construction of bridge across River Varattar at Pulikaradu near Thammampatti.

The Varattar divided Thammampatti town panchayat and Jangamasamuthiram panchayat. The buses proceeding to the tribal villages on the Kolli Hills cross this river.

The farmers of Kolli Hills transport their agricultural produce to the markets in Thammampatti and surrounding villages in the hired vehicles through this road.

When the river carried good amount of water during the monsoon season, it becomes difficult for the people and the vehicles to cross it to reach the villages situated on the other side. This mainly affected the farming community as they could not transport their produce to markets.

The farmers of Thammampatti and surrounding villages said that the people have been demanding a bridge across river Varattar for the past many years. Petitions were submitted to the Chief Minister, revenue, public works department (PWD) officials, but they did not evoke any response.
