The Namakkal Municipality has nominated a special committee for streamlining the remittance of tax dues.
The municipality has decided to re-assess the tax system for augmenting its revenue. The municipality needs more funds for ensuring regular potable drinking water supply, implementing development project and welfare schemes, said a press release of Balasubramanian, Commissioner of Namakkal Municipality, here.
The committee will identify the buildings in the municipal limits which have not been brought into the property tax net so far and also the buildings which were paying tax much less than the stipulated amount and will fix revised tax structure for them.
The committee members will re-assess the issue of tax structure of each and every property in the municipal limits and will revise the tax.
The release called upon the local people to extend cooperation to the special committee.
