Cold wave continues to grip Orissa

Cold wave conditions intensified further in parts of Orissa Wednesday with Phulbani town in Kandhamal district recording the lowest temperature of 6.4 degrees Celsius, an official said.

Several places in northern and southern parts of the state witnessed low temperatures of 7 to 10 degrees Celsius, an official of the Bhubaneswar meteorological centre said.

The places which recorded low temperatures include Bhabanipatna (7.5 degrees Celsius), Koraput (8.6 degrees Celsius), Sundergarh (8.9 degrees), Bolangir (9.2 degrees) and Jharsuguda (9.4).

The minimum temperatures recorded in coastal towns of Puri, Balasore, Paradip and Gopalpur were 17.4, 11.9, 15.0, and 15.2 degrees Celsius, respectively.

Bhubaneswar and its adjoining Cuttack city recorded 15.2 and 15.8 degrees Celsius, respectively.

Cold wave conditions would prevail over some parts of interior Orissa Wednesday and Thursday, the official added.

Phulbani, some 200 km from Bhubaneswar, Tuesday recorded a minimum temperature of 8 degrees Celsius.
