The work of cleaning the sprawling Kamalalayam tank in the heat of the town is in full swing.

The ancient Anjaneyar Temple and the Narasimhar cave Temple here attract a large number of devotees from across the country round the year. The Kamalalayam Temple attached to this temple is situated near the municipal bus stand in the town. The tank accounted for a water spread area of ten acres.

Following repeated pleas of the devotees, the cleaning work was launched recently. At present the work undertaken with the help of equipments is progressing at a fast pace.

The local people and the devotees have commended the rehabilitation work and said the completion of the project will ensure storage of additional water. Besides, it will also help in re-charging the ground water in the neighbouring areas, which in turn will solve the prevailing acute drinking water problem.
