The former BJP president, Bangaru Laxman, on Thursday withdrew his petition from the Delhi High Court seeking the quashing of a corruption case against him borne out of the sting operation conducted on him by Tehelka.com in 2001.
He said there was no point in pursuing the petition as the evidence of all prosecution witnesses, except the investigating officer was recorded.
Mr. Laxman's counsel further submitted that his client could raise the issue mentioned in the petition during the final arguments in the trail court.
Later, Justice Mukta Gupta dismissed the petition as withdrawn.
Mr. Laxman was allegedly caught on camera demanding and accepting Rs. 1 lakh as bribe from fictitious defence dealers.
