The former BJP president, Bangaru Laxman, on Thursday withdrew his petition from the Delhi High Court seeking the quashing of a corruption case against him borne out of the sting operation conducted on him by Tehelka.com in 2001.
He said there was no point in pursuing the petition as the evidence of all prosecution witnesses, except the investigating officer was recorded.
Mr. Laxman's counsel further submitted that his client could raise the issue mentioned in the petition during the final arguments in the trail court.
Later, Justice Mukta Gupta dismissed the petition as withdrawn.
Mr. Laxman was allegedly caught on camera demanding and accepting Rs. 1 lakh as bribe from fictitious defence dealers.

Justice has prevailed which is a great thing. Right from the days of Bofors in the mid-80s till this week (where there seems to be an issue with some ITALIAN chopper purchase), there have been numerous graft cases against Congress led governments, not to forget similar ones in telecom. But unfortunately, justice also seems to prevail selectively.
After a decade people have forgotten the shameful act of accepting cash for favor by the then President of the ruling BJP . Advaniji was the then Home Minister, the strongest India ever had, who took no action against Bagarappa. He has reiterated now in his intemperate language by calling Dr. Man Mohan Singh as the weekest Prime Minister. It took more than 50 years for the congress as a ruling party to get hurt by the issue of corruption but for BJP five years in Govt was sufficient to beat the Congress in this regard. What to do - People's memory is short. The Anchors in the Electronic Channels are too young to recapitulate such incidents. As such it is possible to undertake Rath Yathras and Fast by these leaders in pursuit of power .
