'Suspects identified in Charminar violence'

Home Minister P. Sabitha Indra Reddy on Monday said the police had identified some suspects believed to be involved in violent incidents at Charminar and asserted that no one who had deliberately indulged in arson and violence would be spared.

The Minister commended the Hyderabad police for effectively preventing the violence from spreading to other parts of the city. She was here to take part in a programme organised at the District Police Office, where she distributed scholarships to the next of kith and kin of those killed in road accidents.

In a brief interaction with media persons, the Minister spoke of the State government’s resolve to augment manpower in the Home Department. “The Congress-led governments had recruited more than 45,000 police personnel during the last eight years. It started during the regime of YSR and has been continuing since then,” Ms. Reddy said.

Minister for Rural Development Dokka Manikya Vara Prasada Rao, Collector S. Suresh Kumar, Joint Collector N. Yuvaraj, SP (Guntur Urban) Ake Ravikrishna and SP (Guntur Rural) J. Satyanarayana also called on the Home Minister.
