YSR Congress leader Sharmila resumed her ‘Maro Praja Prasthanam’ padayatra from Turkayamjal village in Hayatnagar mandal of Ranga Reddy district on Wednesday after a gap of 50 days caused by an injury to her leg.
Party’s honorary president Y. S. Vijayamma and Bharati, wife of Y.S.Jaganmohan Reddy and a large number of enthusiastic party workers accompanied Ms. Sharmila when she began her walkathon. She covered a distance of 15.5 kms via Ragannaguda, Manneguda cross roads, Bonguluru, Mangalpally, Seriguda covering a distance of 15.5 km.
Before setting off for the padayatra, an all religious prayer meeting was held at her Lotus Pond residence where she was blessed by the priests.
At ‘Rachabanda’ programme in Turkayamjal, she denounced Congress and the TDP for playing dirty politics. They had conspired to put her brother Jaganmohan Reddy behind bars, as they were unable to take on YSR Congress. She said that it was her father late Rajasekhara Reddy, who has instrumental in increasing the old age pension from Rs. 75 to Rs. 200 a month. Accusing the Congress Government of failing to keep its promise on the welfare and development front, Ms. Sharmila called upon the people to teach the Congress a fitting lesson in the next elections.
She concluded the padayatra with a well attended public meeting in Ibrahimpatnam mandal headquarters.
