Telangana activists organised protests on Friday in front of cinemas screening the latest Telugu blockbuster Cameraman Gangatho Rambabu at different places in the Telangana region, alleging that it had dialogues allegedly belittling the pro-Telangana movement.
Members of the Telangana Students Joint Action Committee (TSJAC) raided Aradhana Theatre adjacent to the Osmania University campus and took away film reels. These reels were later burnt in front of Arts College.
Activists of other Telangana groups ransacked the office of the film’s director Puri Jagannath in Banjara Hills and damaged a couple of cars parked in front of it. As the news spread protests also spread to various parts of the region. Screening of the film was obstructed in Warangal and other districts headquarters of the region.
The film, released on Thursday, has Pawan Kalyan in the lead.
TSJAC spokesperson, Krishank alleged that the dialogues, written by Mr. Jagannath, mocked the Telangana movement. “It reflects the attitude of filmmakers from Coastal Andhra region on Telangana movement and its culture,” he said.
The sudden outburst against the movie forced the director to call a press conference and assure that “objectionable dialogues and scenes” would be removed from the film. He said a special screening would be held for Telangana leaders and on their suggestion objectionable dialogues would be removed. The film’s distributor and noted producer Dil Raju, who is from the region, said that he had spoken to Telangana JAC chairman, Kodandaram and leaders from various political parties and assured them of removing any “objectionable” content.
Interestingly, even the Telugu Desam Party took strong objection to the film’s content arguing that the TDP chief, N. Chandrababu Naidu and his son Lokesh were targeted. The TDP cadre also burnt the flex boards of film’s hero Mr. Kalyan, younger brother of Congress leader and mega star Chiranjeevi.

We want peace. This film which irritates some region people should be immediately banned
it is very funny to see the brothers of tollywood so called annayya
and so called tammudu.
here we come to the story,our elder brother (annayya) gave his support
to telangana at first, making fools of telangana people and immidiatly
changes his opinion not standing upon his words. from then onwords
Andarivaadu becomes kondarivaadu
And we come to anther youngest brother tammudu, he makes films, but i
dont understand why he accepted the film of cgr without keeping the
telangana fans in mind. Atlast he also proved himself as one side hero
following his brother . it would be better even from now if he selects
good movies which is acceptable from both sides without hearting any
one
And at last coming to the director who is the fan of Y.S.R,shown his
obidiance towards y.s.jagan for that reason he targetted the other
major parties like T.D.P and T.R.S mainly k.c.r, what ever his wish
may be ,but making the films hearting the telangana citizens is not a
proper thing.
Yes, It resembles to the current situations.... it is clearly a sattire
to the telangana movement and the questions were genuine and each one
of the common person should be knowing the answers before protesting
for any cause.... This type of film is essential now .... its a peak
time there are many states that were nothing a decade ago but now they
have developed to that extent we cant think of but Andhra pradesh we
are fighting among ourselves for no reason and for jobs we go out of
states and increasing their state revenues...we need to get out of it
atleast now otherwise it will be worse..... dont say jai telangana or
jai andra think about you and state or country will automatically
grow.....
Its a good movie with latest political dramas played by our politicians against people.We have to appreciate the movie maker for giving such a movie with message to the people how to be aware from today's cunning politicians.
this movie is very good can watch each and every one. should realize what is happening in the AP state, Please do not show politics in the cinema industry this is only entertainment and motivation with good message oriented movies which can motivate youth in the right track.
I do not understand why they are making issue. The Movie more about how, the so called politicians dividing people based on caste and region and gaining power. The people we are protesting should watch should move so that they can realise how the politicians using them now also with name of Movie.
There's nothing in the movie that alludes the ongoing Telanagana
movement. It only speaks about non-telugus in Andhra Pradesh.
Stopping the screening of the movie is totally point less.
Cameraman Gangatho Rambabu movie is a mirror to what happening now in Andhra Pradesh. Every one is using politics for their own purposes. The Black Sheep's are feeling that they are shown in that movie. No body will change until some one raises like that. Awesome movie by Puri, Hat's of to Puri for his dare.
Is it that easy to offend Telangana people?. Why Telangana people have become little babies of late?
So is it moral policing by certain groups and sections of people
insisting on what they believe is only correct? Where this will lead
to and what will be left of freedom of expression in that eventuality?
This is nothing but fascism in a new bottle. If the protesters had any
grouse, why can't they challenge the validity in a high court of law,
in which case contentions from both sides can be heard and decided by
an impartial judiciary? Leaders like Kodandaram should know and mind
that freedom of speech and expression means freedom to express oneself
fearlessly including expressing contempt, derision and stringent
criticism/denial of mob/mass feelings and beliefs.
Just now i watched movie, it's really a message oriented film.
We should appreciate the efforts of CMGR team to made it as a good film.
There is nothing objectional to any palce/person.
Please don't drag it to politics.
