Konda Laxman Bapuji cremated

Freedom fighter Konda Laxman Bapuji, who died on Friday, was cremated with full state honours at ‘Jaladrusyam’ overlooking Hussainsagar Lake here on Saturday in the presence of family members, a large number of his admirers and Telangana activists besides leaders of political parties.

The pyre was lit by his daughter Pavitra Mani. Earlier, his body was taken in a procession from Padmashali Bhavan, where it was kept to enable people to pay their homage, to Jaladrusyam with brief halts at Gandhi Bhavan and Gun Park memorial in front of the Assembly. The police fired three rounds into the air as a mark of respect to the departed leader at Padmashali Bhavan. Union Minister S. Jaipal Reddy, Speaker N. Manohar, Ministers P. Sabita Indra Reddy, Botcha Satyanarayana, D. Sridhar Babu and Pithani Satyanarayana, former Union Ministers G. Venkataswamy and Bandaru Dattatreya, CPI State secretary K. Narayana, MPs G. Sukhender Reddy, T. Devender Goud and L. Rajagopal were also present.
