Former Rajya Sabha member K. Keshava Rao on Tuesday urged Congress MLAs from Telangana to exert pressure on the party high command to pass a resolution on Telangana by boycotting Assembly sessions in the coming days.
“If all the MLAs give in writing that they would not participate in the Assembly, it would create pressure on the high command,” he said while addressing the gathering at Telangana Nagara Samiti’s protest meeting at Indira Chowk on Tuesday.
Till date, over 700 people have committed suicide and many MLAs had resigned in support of Telangana, yet the Congress party does not pass a resolution. The Central government and Congress party are responsible for all the suicides, he fumed. Reacting sharply to the remarks made by Dr. Rao at the TJAC protest rally in the city, Government Whip T. Jayaprakash Reddy said the former was acting more as spokesperson of other rival parties. He said the senior Congress leader could call it a day or quit the party, if had any grouse against the central leadership on the statehood issue.
