Minister for Information Technology Komatireddy Venkata Reddy announced his decision to resign both from the Cabinet and the Assembly after alleging that there was a conspiracy to prevent the formation of Telangana.

Speaking to media persons at his residence here on Thursday, the IT Minister said that he had been fighting for the Telangana cause since his student days. He said he was hurt that Union Home Minister P. Chidambaram’s statement did not indicate any time frame for the creation of Telangana and his statement needed to be amended accordingly.

In an appeal to students, Mr. Venkat Reddy said they should strive to achieve Telangana peacefully and urged them not to resort to violence and damage public and private property. “If required, we will sacrifice our lives for Telangana State but students should show restraint,” he said.
