A total of 14 dengue cases have been reported from the peripheral areas of the Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (VMC).

The condition of a 10-year-old girl is said to be serious as she is suffering from lung infection and a liver problem. Three girls from SFS School at Peda Gantyada have been suffering from fever owing to unhealthy conditions there.

Municipal Commissioner M.V. Satyanarayana told reporters on Friday after visiting the area that a list of 44 persons was referred to the GVMC by the Navy authorities probably after treating at their facilities. But the cases were referred to the DMHO, who confirmed 14 cases of dengue.

The girl was undergoing treatment at the King George Hospital and if required a surgery would be performed on her liver, he said. The other two children and adults have no serious problem, he said.

All the cases were from Peda Gantyada area.
