Baba Sehgal

The man whose voice brought him fame with 'Thanda, thanda paani ..' a decade and a half ago, has the credit of leaving his indelible stamp in the Telugu film industry too. He is on a new high, composing a new song and singing it himself, all for the Power Star whose birthday falls on September 2.

Indipop fame Baba Sehgal now finds himself christened 'Power Singer' after the runaway success that his song in the film 'Gabbar Singh' became. And considering his association with members of what he fondly calls 'Mega Family', he has announced a special song dedicating it to Pawan Kalyan and the millions of fans. The teaser will be released on Sept. 2 and once shooting the video is wrapped up, will be unveiled on Sept. 14.

He is excited as he recalls how his tryst with Telugu films began in 1997 with 'Chik chik chiklette ..' that had the megastar Chiranjeevi shaking a leg. He talks about working with Pawan in 'Jalsa' and Allu Arjun in 'Arya 2', apart from songs in films like 'Adhurs' (Junior NTR), Don Seenu (Ravi Teja) and 'Singham' (Surya). In all, this Lucknow-born entertainer has about two dozen albums to his credit.

His filmi offerings in Telugu comprises about 50 songs and he modestly accepts the 'Gabbar Singh' song as being the icing on the cake in his Telugu singing career. He saw the film 'Gabbar Singh' in Mumbai and was hit by his tremendous screen presence. He is in a totally different league, the composer-singer says.

Coming to the song, it goes 'Pawa pawa pawa Pawan Kalyan, pawa pawa pawa Pawan Kalyan'. I am amazed with the term 'Pawanism' that people are talking about now. I am doing this song as a gift for a star who is known for his humility and positive energy, keeping his charisma and star power in mind, Baba Sahgal says, before signing off.
