Petition against CBI joint director dismissed

July 31, 2012 11:22 am | Updated 11:22 am IST - HYDERABAD:

A Division Bench of the AP High Court comprising acting Chief Justice P.C. Ghose and Justice Naushad Ali on Monday dismissed the writ petition filed against CBI joint director V.V. Lakshminarayana complaining about the phone calls he allegedly made to media houses on matters of investigation by the agency. The bench directed the petitioner to pay Rs.25,000 as costs.

The bench was dealing with the writ petition filed by Bhushanam B. Bhavanam who contended that the officer had in an earlier writ petition claimed that he never made any calls to the media houses. Now it was revealed that the calls were made to selectively leak investigation and therefore he misled the court.

The bench did not appreciate the tone and tenor of the writ petition and wanted to know how the petition attracted public interest.
