The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Thursday arrested two District Judges, K. Lakshminarasimha Rao and T. Prabhakar Rao, in connection with the ongoing investigation into the bail scam involving former Karnataka minister Gali Janardhana Reddy, now in judicial custody.
With this, three serving judges and a retired judge, besides three others have been arrested so far by the ACB in this case. Both Justice Lakshminarasimha Rao and Justice Prabhakar Rao were detained for questioning at the ACB headquarters here after their arrest on Thursday noon.
The two judges are accused of making parallel attempts to secure bail for the mining baron, Janardhana Reddy in the Obulapuram Mining Company (OMC) case.
While on the one hand, a retired judge, T. V. Chalapathi Rao, struck a deal with the CBI Judge T. Pattabhirama Rao to secure the bail on payment of Rs. 5 crore, Justice Lakshminarasimha Rao used the services of Justice Prabhakar Rao with the same objective for Rs. 10 crore. But, Justice Pattabhi Roa favoured Mr. Chalapathi Rao’s offer as he felt that it was less risky.
Justice Lakshminarasimha Rao is the Chief Judge of Small Causes Court in the City Civil Courts complex and Justice Prabhakar Rao was the Family Judge-cum-third Additional District Judge in Srikakulam. The latter was summoned here late on Wednesday night and taken into custody.
It may be recalled that Justice Pattabhirama Rao was arrested by the ACB in June after the CBI detected irregularities in the grant of bail to Gali Janardhana Reddy. The investigating agency informed the A. P. High Court which ordered suspension of the Judge and transferred the probe to the ACB on the point of jurisdiction.
ACB sleuths recovered a sum of Rs. 2.75 crore from Justice Pattabhirama Rao and Justice Chalapathi Rao besides detecting a further sum of Rs. 9. 5 crore in the possession of P. Yadagiri Rao, a rowdy sheeter, who allegedly tried to broker the deal.

judges come to save justice or earn money illigally...?
When i hear about the corruption among ministers, party workers, police judiciary etc. I think only something like the French Revolution can set things right.
It’s good that the judges were arrested for accepting the bribe and brokering the deal. Still wondering why ACB did not arrest who offered the money. Is that one of the other Gali brothers or his wife or friends? They should be arrested and locked in the jail as well.
Its very serious and alarming status of corruption , i feel that very fast and stringent punishment should be given , the punishment should be a lesson for others like ,if the hands of those were chopped off then the culprits will think 10 times before doing such crime .
This is only the tip of the iceberg. Lot more will follow. Those who are caught flat-footed are punished, and those who are wise slip through the net. Moral responsibility and accountability are the need of the hour and more so in the case of judges, for Caesar's wife must be above suspicion.
Everything department is corrupted now in India which includes judiciary. Thanks to Media for exploring it. When Judiciary is corrupted, then who else can deliver justice now? Do we need any new systems to be introduce as a substitute to centuries old british system called Judiciary? Especially in AP, you get a BAIL if you approach Yadgiri and the package is called "BAIL FOR SALE".
This is the major fall out of the policies of UPA I which allowed natural iron ore resources to mining (manipulating) experts like Gali bros without proper controls at the time of allotment. The result is that we created super bosses who think they can control politics, media, police and CBI ,bureaucrats and now the judiciary with impunity with all the I'll gotten money. What the govt shd have done by itself, Supreme court is forced to do but these people will try their best to undermine the judiciary at that level also because of their money power. People who
offer money to judiciary shd be punished more severely.
Nothing 'strange'. Unfortunate -- perhaps for these two judges because they were caught. It is everyone's knowledge that barring some high profile cases and a handful of individuals, justice is a freely tradeable commodity in India. With such hoary judiciary safeguarding us, what will the common man have for the courts except utter contempt? The state of affairs is getting murkier by the day with no end of tunnel in sight. God knows where this will all lead us to.
Strange and unfortunate.
