In spite of the heavy polling on by-elections, the process was devoid of any major incident except verbal clashes and scuffles among the followers of the Congress, YSRCP and Telugu Desam -- over missing of names from the rolls at polling stations in Ongole, Kondareddypalli, Chitvel, Kandukuru and Yerupalli. About 10 persons suffered minor injures in these incidents.
Irate voters, most of them women, burnt a police jeep at Undrai in Parkal constituency when a sub-inspector prevented them from using an autorickshaw to reach the designated booth.
Lack of facilities
Voters of two booths in Polavaram boycotted the exercise on the plea that there was no Communist party candidate in the fray to vote for. Villagers at Kovuru and Kavali in Nellore Parliamentary constituency abstained complaining against lack of facilities at their hamlets as did the tribal people at nine ‘thandas' in West Godavari district.
At the end of the polling, Chief Electoral Officer Bhanwar Lal attributed the relative absence of violence to massive awareness created among the people by the media about the importance of elections in general.
Technology rendered the monitoring job easy for the Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) V.S. Sampath in New Delhi and for the CEO in his chambers at the Secretariat here.
The senior officers and the Collectors in the 12 districts had a clear view of the goings-on in each of the 5,413 polling booths, thanks to the live web-casting facilitated by about 2,000 students from IITs from Basar, Nuzvid and Idupalapaya.
In fact, it was after seeing live, a presiding officer and a micro-observer at a polling station No. 60 in Ongole were replaced when they entered the voting compartment and pointed to the ceiling fan above, in what was apparently seen as an attempt to influence a voter.
Heavy security
The electronic voting machines were since shifted to designated strong rooms at the counting centres amidst heavy security accompanied by representatives from parties and contestants in some cases.

I can not understand what is wrong with people like Prem and many likes of him. Until people learn to be honest our country will ever remain undeveloped. Poor people vote crooks like Jagan for the want of money, educated idiots vote him due to caste, region and religion etc.
Corrupt practices of Mr. Jagan and his dad Dr. Rajashekar Reddy are obvious to even a 1st grade student. They looted the State exchequer and sent the state back in development by a decade. People wake up and clean up all these guys who do not mind selling our nation for their selfish gains if we are not careful.
The party men should learn a lesson from this bypolls, and is going to witness how the people of andhra pradesh outraged over present condition. people also should wake up now and vote to the right candidate in the wake of this uncertainty and unstable government. A law should bring now that, politician should not be allowed to contest in elections if they resign and join another party before the general elections. Just for sake of their favour, spoiling public money, ultimately people of country suffers to pay taxes etc. It is very unfortunate that party men pelted stones and thrashes EVMs during voting and creating violence, ultimately common men suffers, no politician injured. World is watching at India and our economy rating is going down day by day, but politicians are least bother about it. Please change your attitude. instead of going for by poll elections every time, it would be good if politician constructed a good school with their election expenditure.
I ask a simple question to Mr. prem, I dont know he want to create awarness among the people andhra about Correcption or he want to support a correcpt person, who earned 1 lakh crores illegal money by looting public property within 5 yrs of his father rule. If a person who has his income 7 crores in 2004 and now 445 crores(as per incomx tax ,but it is more than 1 lakh crores),is it possible a person earning this much money legaly without doinng any correcpt practices. If it is the correct case then how much many mr. Pream who is supporting a correcpt person earned from past 5 yrs... what a bt people of poor families who are even not able to have food 2 times for a day. I am not saying other leaders are good. As a educated person we should create awarness among the public about politican correcpt practices and how they are looting public properties. This is not critize any individual, but for making better india.
We should not encourage cheap political games played by congress and YSR congress , AP requires leaders not politicians , its all enough we spared 8 years , Its time for Chandrababu , dictator should come
@Prem, Congress would have got its own reasons to corner Jagan. But it is for good that a goon like Jagan behind Bars. Whatever the party is in power, as a simple citizen, I would like to see such goons and opportunists cornered and humiliated.
The Congress Party is on witch-hunting trail of Mr. Jaganmohan Reddy,
the scion of Dr. YSR Reddy, one of the strongest and more popular
Congress Chief Minister AP ever had. The coterie in the Congress
Party, after his sudden death due to air-crash has been trying it's
best to finish politically Mr. Jagan. However, Jagan with his fighting
spirit will get back YSR legacy and may ultimately become Chief
Minister of AP.
2. People in AP are looking out for a strong and stable Govt which
either Chandrababu Naidu-led TDP or Mr. Jagan-led YSR Congress can
provide. People don't want unstable political, economic and social
milieue to continue further any more. A change is in the offing which
the ruling elite in the Congress is unable to foresee.
what's wrong in jailing a corrupt politician ? i just can't understand the sympathy factor here. Do you really think he is not corrupt ? If you think, he is corrupt, please stop voting him.
Jagan is going to win the Election now and also in 2014. Because, many of the people who is supporting are without any expectations. During his election more than 100 people traveled from various parts of world for his support. They are not expecting anything from him. That is the truth. For these bye-elections all people are traveling from 400 Km to cast their vote. People dont trust Chandra Babu. He backstabbed his own father in law, so people dont expect much from him. SONIA is nothing to a general voter in Andhra without YSR. She must realise what her strength is in Andhra and in India..
Yes the all voters nearly seems to vote for jagan only
whatever the congress do on Jagan, will not be effected to his party.surely his party may win atleast 10 seats
There is nothing more to happen to Jagan. At best he can be booked another 4-5 cases and put him in jail. But voters in AP have already divided as pro-jagan and congress/TDP. Even if Jagan in Jail, he can fetch not less than 20 percent votes. that is enough to throw this Congress out of AP packed permanently. We never witnessed this much targeting an individual. that itself shows how worried is Congress. It is made by themselves.
