Last rites of two Nepal crash victims performed

The last rites of two persons from the city who died in Nepal plane crash were performed at Bansilalpet graveyard on Thursday.

The bodies of retired audit officer G. Venkata Raman of Padmanabhanagar in Mehdipatnam and ISKCON member Krishna Chaitanya of Indraprastha Colony in Bowenpally were brought back to the city on Wednesday.

Fifteen out of 21 passengers were killed after Agni Airlines flight crashed near Jomsom airport in Nepal on Monday. Of the 13 Indians who died, seven were from Mumbai and two from the city. The airline failed to establish the identity of the rest of them.

Gloomy atmosphere

The crash took place when the passengers were going to Muktinath yatra. According to family members, the bodies were flown from Kathmandu to Delhi.

The lanes and bylanes in the two colonies wore a gloomy look for a few hours with all activities coming to a halt. Local residents, friends and relatives came to the victims' residences and paid homage.
