Telugu Desam Party chief N Chandrababu Naidu has strongly condemned the police action against yoga guru Baba Ramdev late last night.

“It is a most undemocratic and immoral act. The UPA government should immediately apologise to the people of the country,” Mr. Naidu demanded in a statement here on Sunday.

“Where was the need for police to clamp prohibitory orders under Section 144 Cr P C at Baba’s fast venue?”, he questioned.

The TDP chief said Baba Ramdev was carrying out a movement against corruption in a most peaceful and democratic manner.

The way in which police used force and fired tear-gas shells at his supporters was highly condemnable, he said.

“The UPA government is using repressive and vengeful methods against those fighting to protect the interests of the country. It should apologise to the people over this,” Mr. Naidu said.
