TRS president K Chandrasekhar Rao today asked people to boycott the launch of Rachchabanda mass-contact programme as it was meant to dilute the pro-Telangana agitation.
“The ‘Rachabanda’ (village junction) programme is a cheap attempt to divert people’s attention from the ongoing Telangana agitation. I am calling for its boycott,” he said, addressing a function here.
Attacking the Congress MLAs and MPs for announcing that they would participate in the programme, he urged people to drive away the ruling party leaders who come to attend it.
“The Congress MLAs and MPs say that they will give PDS ration cards now. Where did your love for people go when 10,000 farmers committed suicides? Is it not because of your inefficiency...,” he said.
The ‘Rachabanda’ programme, which would be launched by Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy on Monday, aims at checking whether the benefits of welfare programmes reach the target beneficiaries or not, and to rectify the lacunae.
Claiming that attempts will be made to confuse people over the ongoing pro-Telangana agitation, the TRS president said the fight would not stop until the goal is reached.
“The powers that be in Delhi would try to confuse and mislead people. But we will continue our fight even for another 10 years. History has proved that people’s power would win finally,” Mr. Rao said.
