A team of two doctors from the Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Adilabad, on Friday said MIM MLA Akbaruddin Owaisi’s health condition was stable. They said he was not suffering with pain in his stomach as was complained to the Secretary, Adilabad District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), B. Madhusudan.
The latter met Mr. Owaisi in the jail as part of his routine inspection and facilitated a medical check by doctors A. Ashok and Ch. Suresh Chandra from the RIMS.
The doctors examined him for about 30 minutes after which they concluded that his condition was stable.
Mr. Madhusudan denied any red ant infestation in the barrack in which the MLA was lodged.
He said there was nothing amiss so far as the availability of laid down facilities in the jail was concerned.
Meanwhile, the jail authorities denied permission to MIM Yakutpura MLA Mumtaz Ahmed Khan to meet Mr. Owaisi inside the jail.
They also denied permission to another MIM MLA Afsar Khan but relented after he obtained permission from higher ups.
The MLAs also met Adilabad Superintendent of Police S. Tripathi and complained of not being allowed to meet Mr. Owaisi. Ghouse Siddiqui, a local advocate, however, was allowed to see the MLA and offer him fruits.
Old case stalks Akbar

The police of Medak district dug out an old case registered against MIM legislator Akbaruddin Owaisi way back in 2005 and filed a requisition petition before the Excise and Prohibition Court to present him before the court.
According to sources, in 2005 the district administration tried to remove a prayer place near Muttangi.
At that time Mr. Akbaruddin reached there and entered into an argument with the then Collector A.K. Singhal and with force pushed him aside along with other officials.
The police of Patancheru registered cases against Akbar, Asaduddin Owaisi, Mumtaz Khan, Asad Pasha Khadri, Mozam Khan and Afzar Khan under 147, 153, 353, 290, 295 (A), 186, 341, 504 and 506 of IPC.
Bail secured
The accused got bail after attending the court in 2009 before the general elections as it was mandatory to see that no warrant was pending. Since then neither Akbar nor Asad presented themselves before the court.
Even the police did not serve the NBW against both of them. With Akbar remanded to the jail at Adilabad district, the police of Patancheru have decided to present him before the court.
Petition filed
Patancheru Circle Inspector Mr Ravinder had confirmed that they have filed a petition before the Prohibition and Excise Court and they would present the legislator once the permission was accorded.
