Agricultural extension centre inspected

Deputy Director of Agriculture S. Viswanathan inspected the Agricultural Extension Centre at Gobichettipalayam here on Tuesday.

Accompanied by A.N. Asaithambi, Assistant Director of Agriculture, Gobichettipalayam and other senior officials, Mr. Viswanathan inspected the centre and held inquiries related to stock of seeds, fertilizers and other products. He also inquired about the progress of Mission on Sustainable Dryland Agriculture farming for 2017-18, implementation of drip irrigation and other water management programmes in the block. Groundnut, maize and millets were commonly cultivated in the block and he asked officials to ensure that cultivable land is surveyed. Also, the crop details cultivated in Siruvalur village where check dam was constructed and grants were given to farmers was also discussed.

Agriculture Officer P. Puitha, Assistant Agriculture Officer K. Selvam, godown managers G.A. Thirunavukarasu, M. Punithan and technical manager for the block S. Aravindan were present.
