Eight more bodies have been identified through DNA matching in the Jnaneswari train derailment case.
Senior Home Department officials of the West Bengal government said profiling of 29 bodies had been done and the chances of identifying the remaining ones were remote.
This has been revealed after the third DNA matching exercise was carried out to identify the victims, whose bodies have been lying in the State mortuaries since May 28. More than 150 people were killed in the derailment of the Express train and its immediate ramming by a goods train in Paschim Medinipur district.
The State government is in a fix with the victims' bodies getting contaminated.
