Even as his continued absence from Parliament is causing embarrassment to the government, DMK leader and Union Minister M K Azhagiri has been asked by Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar to meet her to discuss his problems.

"I have told him to come and meet to discuss with me," Ms Kumar told reporters. There were reports earlier that the Minister personally met Meira Kumar a few months ago and sought her nod to answer questions in Tamil as he was more comfortable in that language.

Mr Azhagirii's staying away from Parliament has caused embarrassment to the government during the current session with Leader of the Opposition Sushma Swaraj complaining that the Minister was "perpetually absent".
