Close on the heels of the landmine blast on Monday killing four policemen, six more were injured when suspected Naxalites tried to trigger another blast on an anti-landmine vehicle near Talwada on the Allapalli-Aheri road on Tuesday morning. The suspected Naxalites opened fire on the police contingent as well, police sources said.

The C-60 anti-Naxal force and the local police were heading to Perimili village to recover the bodies of the four men killed on Monday.

Two policemen Umesh Korame and Suresh Rohankar were sent to Nagpur for treatment for serious injuries.

The situation is now under control, official sources said. A high-level meeting was held in Gadchiroli.
