Former India captain Rahul Dravid’s father Sharad Dravid passed away here on Wednesday evening. Sharad Dravid, 79, is survived by his wife Pushpa and sons Rahul and Vijay.

At times, Sharad Dravid used to accompany Rahul to the Chinnaswamy Stadium where the latter used to fine-tune his batting during long sessions at the nets. Rahul sweating it out in the nets while his father sat on a chair right behind and watched keenly, is an endearing vignette that played out in the KSCA (B) Ground.

A dignified man, who watched all his son’s innings and later discussed the finer points with Rahul, Sharad Dravid was ailing for a while. The Karnataka State Cricket Association condoled Sharad Dravid’s demise.
