Two adults are free to get married and "no third party", be it parents or society or khap panchayats, have any right to harass or cause harm to them, said Chief Justice of India Dipak Misra, against honour killings on Monday. "When two people get into wedlock, no one should interfere. Neither parents, society, khap or panchayat... no one at all," said Mr. Misra, leading a three-judge Bench, that upheld the fundamental right of two people who wish to get married to each other and live peacefully.
Mehbooba govt. calls for resumption of Indo-Pak. peace process
The Jammu and Kashmir government on Monday batted strongly for the resumption of a ‘peace and reconciliation process’ between India and Pakistan as the issue of repeated ceasefire violations by the neighbouring country rocked the state Assembly. China expresses anxiety as crisis in Maldives unfolds
China on Monday expressed anxiety about the unfolding crisis in the Maldives, advising its citizens to avoid travel to the archipelago till the on-going tensions there subside. “China suggests that Chinese citizens who are preparing to go to the Maldives in the near term to postpone going until the situation on the ground stabilises,” Geng Shuang, a spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, told a regular briefing.

The sell-off in equity markets is due to a weak global sentiment and not beacause of long-term capital gains tax announced in the budget, Finance Secretary Hasmukh Adhia said on Monday. Unable to eat for 2 months, Guwahati zoo rhino dies
Bishnu, who cheated death twice, is dead. Assam State Zoo officials said Bishnu, the oldest of half a dozen one-horned rhinos in captivity, lost the battle of survival at 8 a.m. on Monday. The rhino died a few days short of its 34th birthday.
