I totally agree with the report. Development is necessary but not at
the cost of our environment. We have already exhausted our environment
in the guise of development, and now are facing the consequences, and
hence there will not be sustainable growth without preserving our
ecology,For e.g. because of vanishing of vultures in our area now the
people are facing the problem of disposing of dead animals like
cows, buffalo, etc.Good ecology and human beings are inter dependent so
it should not be ignored.Any project(development)having local people's
resistance should not thrust on them by the people sitting in A.C
rooms in Capital cities including corrupt politicians.
The report of WGEEP is not a balanced report since all the member of the
panel belongs to one discipline. Country can not have two sets of norms
one for Bastar Chhattisgarh (An equally eco sensitive area)and other for
western ghats. The data of Census 2011 for Sindhudurg district is
alarming. Maha eco survey also a paint a poor picture of this district.
If development of the district is stopped based on this report it can
lead to catastrophe.
