Former Chairman of Satyam Computers B Ramalinga Raju, who has been admitted to Nizam's Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS) here following a chest pain, is also suffering from Hepatitis, doctors said.

“Raju has chronic HCV hepatitis with high viral load and elevated ALT levels,” they said.

On August 31, Mr. Raju had been brought to the NIMS hospital from Chanchalguda jail for a medical check-up.

The doctors who examined Mr. Raju advised him to undergo treatment for a maximum period of 72 weeks, a doctor in Gastroenterology department in NIMS hospital said.

Earlier, doctors of Osmania Medical College, who examined Mr. Raju two months ago, had also advised him to undergo treatment under expert guidance.

“After he was referred from Osmania to NIMS, Raju was supposed to visit our hospital this week, but he got admitted yesterday after complaining of chest pain,” NIMS Medical Superintendent Dr N Satyanarayana told PTI .

However, the condition of Mr. Raju remained stable, a hospital official said.

“The condition of Ramalinga Raju was stable, but he still needs few days’ medical treatment,” the official said.

Mr.Raju was arrested on January nine in connection with the multi-crore Satyam fraud case and is in the jail along with his brother and Satyam’s former managing director Rama Raju and others.
