Pending cases go up in Mettupalayam subordinate court

Over 4,000 cases were pending in the subordinate court in Mettupalayam and of these over 1,000 cases were pending for over five years, said Justice A.M. Basheer Ahamed, Judge of the Madras High Court. here on Saturday.

Inaugurating the permanent sub-ordinate judge’s court at Mettupalayam, Mr. Justice Basheer, who is also the Additional Portfolio Judge for Coimbatore District, appealed to the judicial officers and advocates to work in tandem to get speedy justice for the poor and downtrodden.

Justice R. Pongiappan, Judge, Madras High Court, appealed to the lawyers to avoid court boycotts and extend their service to render speedy justice to the masses. He also hinted that Mettupalayam would get a Munsif Court in the near future.

M. Christopher, I Additional District Judge Principal District and Sessions Judge welcomed the gathering. Collector T.N. Hariharan, Coimbatore Rural Superintendent of Police Pa. Moorthy, Mettupalayam Bar Association President P. Wilson, Secretary R. Sivakumar also spoke.
