Chief Electoral Officer Anil Kumar Jha has warned prospective candidates against organising feasts for the general public for Ugadi.
“Prospective candidates organising mass feeding or feasts on Ugadi will have to face action later,” Mr. Jha warned leaders of political parties at a press conference here on Saturday.
Generally, political leaders organise feasts for their supporters on Ugadi or the next day . The CEO also asked political leaders not to distribute gifts or clothes on the eve of Ugadi as the model code of conduct was in force.
Poll survey
Replying to a question on telecast of pre-poll survey results in the electronic media, Mr. Jha said there was no restriction on the telecast of such survey data at present. The Election Commission has banned the telecast of survey results 48 hours before the voting.
