Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar slammed the Opposition on Thursday for “transgressing the limit” in their bid to disrupt proceedings of the two Houses of the state legislature for two days since Tuesday.
“Transgression of constitutional limits by anybody during protest is highly condemnable,” Mr. Kumar told reporters.
With Opposition MLAs staying away from the Assembly today, Deputy Chief Minister S K Modi urged Speaker Udai Narayan Choudhary to take action against the MLA who flung a slipper at the Chair on Wednesday.
It was an extremely serious matter and insult to the Chair which cannot be tolerated, Mr. Modi said when the state Assembly met for the day.
He said the TV footages must be examined and attempts made to identify the person who had flung the slipper.
Mr. Modi was supported by other NDA members present in the House.
Mr. Choudhary then said he would look into it and do the needful.
A slipper was flung at the Chair amidst a free—for—all in the Assembly as Opposition MLAs resisted the watch and ward staff from marshalling them out after 67 MLAs were suspended for unruly behaviour and chaotic scenes created by them.
