Fire damages ceremonial lounge at Mumbai Airport
A major fire gutted a large portion of the ceremonial lounge of Mumbai Airport on Saturday afternoon. The fire control room said that they received a call at 1:46 p.m. By 2:41 p.m. the fire was declared as Level III as it had spread through the ground plus one structure.
Chopper goes missing off Mumbai
A Pawan Hans helicopter with five Oil and Natural Gas Corporation employees and two crew on a routine sortie between Juhu heliport and the offshore rigs was lost to sea on Saturday. The Indian Coast Guard confirmed that the helicopter had crashed into the Arabian Sea. Four bodies have been recovered so far, with one of them being identified as Pankaj Garg, deputy general manager, ONGC.
Leopard enters residential area
At least six persons were injured on Saturday in an attack by a leopard, which entered a residential area in Nanipada in suburban Mulund in Mumbai, police said. Later, forest and police officials, along with the help of local residents, captured the leopard after tranquilising it.
'Comedy of errors'
Former Finance Minister P. Chidambaram on Saturday termed the Enforcement Directorate (ED) raids against his son Karti Chidambaram “a comedy of errors” and claimed the officers were left “embarrassed” and “apologetic” as they could not find anything. He was reacting after the ED conducted searches at multiple premises linked to Mr. Karti , the senior Congress leader’s son, in connection with its money laundering probe in the Aircel-Maxis case.

Chennai flight operations disrupted
Flight services in and out of Chennai suffered on Saturday following a thick cover of smoke due to “Bhogi” festival celebrations, airport officials said. Between 4-8 a.m., both the incoming and the outgoing air traffic suffered, they said, adding the services were expected to resume after 9 a.m. As many as 18 arriving flights were diverted to Bengaluru and Hyderabad airports.
