Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Friday termed the release of 26/11 mastermind and Lashkar leader, Zaki-ur-Rehman Lakhvi as an “unfortunate” and “disappointing” development.
Mr. Singh, who was a two-day visit to his constituency, was talking to reporters on the sidelines of a bank function here on Friday.
“India wants to engage Pakistan in talks but the latest development is unfortunate and disappointing”, the he said. When Mr. Singh was asked about the discordant notes being struck by the PDP and BJP in Jammu and Kashmir over the settlement of Kashmir Pandits, he said an agreement was reached with Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed on the issue.
On the killing of five undertrials in Nalgonda district of Telengana, the Home Minister said it was State subject.
Mr. Singh earlier met several delegations and party members at his residence on Friday. The Minister expressed concern over the plight of farmers as a result of the crop loss on account of unseasonal rains and hailstorm. Stating that the farmers had suffered immense loss, Mr. Singh, however, appealed to the farmers not to resort to extreme measures as the Central Government was with them.
