Despite the government banning the broadcast of the controversial documentary India’s Daughter and hours after it served notices on Google and YouTube to take it off their websites, the film remained available on some YouTube accounts and appeared in Google searches performed in India on Thursday.
Earlier in the day, the Home Ministry consulted the Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In) on how to take the film off the Internet.
“We got the court notices in the morning ... we served it on Google and YouTube and they have removed the documentary from their servers,” Gulshan Rai, Director-General of CERT-In, told The Hindu .
“Like Ravana, Internet is a multi-headed entity. If we remove some content from a website, it might appear on other URLs on another server,” Dr. Rai said.
