A youth was arrested on Sunday night for allegedly molesting and slapping a television actor. The youth took offence to the clothes worn by the actor and her dancing to racy numbers, the police said.

The victim, who has participated in a reality show, alleged in her complaint that the accused, who entered Film City in Goregaon, a western suburb of the city, on the pretext of being a spectator, allegedly slapped and molested her on the sets of a show.

The accused, identified as Akil Malik, 24, was booked on the charge of molestation. Malik allegedly did not like the actor sporting short dresses in her shows and therefore landed up at the sets to express his displeasure. He was produced in a local court on Monday and was remanded in police custody till Thursday.

“The accused has been visiting the sets for a couple of days but on Sunday managed to get on the stage and tried to touch the actor. When she resisted, Malik slapped her and started hurling abuses at her and asked her how she could wear skimpy clothes when it was prohibited by religion,” said a police officer.
