Former Union Commerce Minister and >Deputy Leader of the Congress in the Rajya Sabha Anand Sharma was at loss for words after the Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his reply to the Motion of Thanks on the President’s Address to the Joint Session of Parliament indirectly sought to compare him to an old man who keeps talking about the past.

“Young look to the future. It is the old who keep narrating past tales. We meet them on trains and buses. We have no option but to listen as they harp on their life stories”, he said after Mr. Sharma delivered a long speech on the achievements of the UPA government.

Earlier, in his speech Mr Sharma said: “We sustained the growth rate till 2008. The economy began experiencing difficulties only after the world financial crisis….It is uncharitable to suggest that the UPA did nothing as if we were going to office and going back home”.
